i just had a thought
what if the reason jay always has money for hotels and shit is bc he does it winchester-style (ie, since he has no job and cannot possibly hold down a job, he just funds his lifestyle through criminal activity like credit-card fraud and shit)
it would also explain why he never, yknow, mentions it
and partially explain why he never goes to the cops
